Tamiya to reissue the Bruiser!

I'm all over it when it's available.

Avante was re-released last year.

Tamiya America Item #58489 | RC Avante 2011

TowerHobbies.com | 58489 Tamiya 1/10 Avante 2011 4WD EP Kit

Now they are coming out with a special edition Avante as well.

Tamiya America Item #84270 | RC Avante 2011 Black Special

TowerHobbies.com | 84270 Tamiya 1/10 Avante '11 Black Special Kit

Hands down the Avante is the sexiest looking RC ever produced to this day in my book.

I didn't get the reissue Avante since I have an original, but I do plan on getting the Black Special one.

So do these reissues come with acid wash jeans and hi-tops, or are they sold separately?

When building these reissues, it's mandatory for me that Quiet Riot or Ratt is blaring away from my iPod.

I am very dissppointed in Tamiya, these trucks were collector items (I have 3 of them) they just devalued trucks that some (not me) paid over $1000 for.
They changed the transmission slightly and the original had different diffs.
The transmission if they haven't changed the concept requires a stick radio. In order to shift gears they require a shift gate so that the truck hits off throttle between gear changes.

Interesting enough the value of the originals goes UP when a new release comes out.

New people are introduced to the older rigs and they start searching for the originals.

I have 10 or more of the originals and I also get the matching re-release when I can. Its a slow process but sooner or later Ill have a new and and original of each.

I LOVE THE VINTAGE STUFF!
Here are a few in various states or restoration. LOTS more in mothballs, not enough room to have them all out to gander at.

Nice photos, I wished I had time to do things like that..

Your Gold chassis, I bought a RC10 Original in 1984 I think it was, I sold it to a friend who never used it.. He is divorced and his wife has it in storage although I don't think she knows she has it and I am trying to get it back almost 30 years later.. That would be cool!!

In the late 90's I searched the world and emptied every Tamiya distributor worldwide of their Bruiser stock at rock bottom prices.. Bodies as cheap as $10 for cab and box, resold for $100
Bought NIB kits for $650 and sold them for $1000 (not a big profit until you consider exchange rate was at 60% ($560 a pop for buying and selling) and at one point I had nearly 5K in NIB Bruiser parts in stock.
When I got tired of doing it I sold them all to a major collector in Colorado for $3K I still doubled my money and he got a deal!! I am going to have to track him down because his collection is phenomenal!!
I still have an original NIB in plastic wrap Juggernaut (The one with the diffs that failed) and the updated diff kits..

Some photos from back in 1999, A couple of Tamiya trucks I had/have.

Not pictured are a Losi Junior-T, Kyosho Optima Mid, Kyosho Ultima Pro and Kyosho Sideways. Sideways is built, but needs the body painted. The other 3 are un-built kits.

I also have re-issues of the Tamiya Frog and Top Force that are still in kit form.

Someday they will all be built and painted to the box art and displayed. Someday......

I have
Original Baja 5B RTR Purple Chassis
5B RTR 2.4
5T SS Kit
5T SCSS Kit
All unopened and put away.

IMO,
The Bajas are going to be RARE unopened.
The dealers dont stock them for the most part and order in when needed. Before a new model is released the sell out the warehouse stock so they arent sitting on many over $1000 rigs. In this economy its about cash flow. I believe they will be very collectable given time.

The original 5B RTR is one that I wish I had unopened. Even today you don't see them for sale anywhere.
