This is stripped Iron Mine land Near Hibbing MN that the state is considering turning into a State Park which will be a full blown Power Sports park 14 miles long by 2.4 miles wide. For ATV's Dirt Bikes, 4x4 trucks and offroad vehicles. I know the project lead that is working on this and I suggested to him that they keep a section soley for RC use. He loved the idea and is going to see if the state will allocate some funds to make it happen.

As far as I know it would be the only RC track within a State Park system in the country. Will be interesting to see what happens with it.

There is a simmilar ORV Park about 30 miles east of this one but it's much much smaller.
Can't see it in the pics but there is a 670' tall Hill of finely crushed Iron ore to the south of this pit. Which is smooth like glass. New Sport maybe? RC Hill climbing?

Next time I am over that way I will get some pictures of the hill. It's really cool looking.

What is really cool about this area is you can drive 20 miles in any direction and have 500 lakes to choose from for fishing or the whole area around this in the fall is open to hunting. Awesome campgrounds near by actually several of them. Superior National Forest is only 10 miles north of here. Lake superior 1 hour to the east. Not many places with RC use which would be this diverse for multiple activities. Over 1400 miles of ATV trails can be accessed from this pit!!!!
