Default Trevor Simpson G290RC head kit and reed motor for Losi 5ive-T

I was fortunate enough to get a Trevor Simpson mild head kit for a Zenoah G290RC motor to test a couple weeks ago and really like it. Definitely saw an increase in power over the stock G290 I was running with my Losi 5ive.

I was running a Bartolone pipe with it but wanted more low end power so I went with a Samba. I'm hoping to test the Samba at the track tomorrow to verify it provides more low end power then the Bartolone but..........

..... Trevor sent me his reed motor out of his Losi on late this week and asked if I could run it at the track and let him know what I think of it. Of course I said yes so I installed it tonight and can't wait till I get to run it in a couple hours. It has a Flow Systems pipe that the motor was ported for.

It's a really nice looking motor.

That little SOB is nasty!!! Had a little issue with a gasket in the beginning of the day but after that it ran like a raped ape. It pulled hard from the bottom end all the way to the top. 4 wheel drifts around the big corners without even breaking a sweat....

What gasket was giving it problems? I'm guessing it was the carb or isolater gasket?

I was in a hurry before my first heat switching the air filter to my quick release because I like to change the filter after each race. Well one of the carb gaskets fell off onto the chassis and it has a small hole on the bottom of it and I wasn't paying attention and put it back on upside down. I shouldn't have been rushing in the first place.

All I can say is WOW! I didn't even run my other motor with the samba pipe. I'll post up the details tomorrow, to tired.

I figured that was the gasket that was put on wrong.
I've always heard good things about TS reed cases and a TS engine built by the man himself has to be a great combo.
Was the engine ported for more torque? Any details would be great.

it had to be the fastest motor on the track. In the main he broke a dog bone went and fixed it came back in and still got third I'm impressed that's for sure.
Trevors still got it never lost it I should say. When it comes to these motors or any two stroke motor TS is the man.

How is that filter? Any issues with the cage?

Yeah there is definitely a clearance issue with the reed motor and stock or blur air filter setup. I couldn't screw both of the left side cage bolts in, I could only get the front one in. But this track gets very dusty and I like to change the outer DT1 filter after each race, I only had the one low profile DT1 filter Trevor sent with the motor and I did not want to ruin the motor from not having a clean air filter.
