Default Fear Farm, AZ

First run on the track at Fear Farm in the Phoenix area. Second tank on the truck with only modification in the video being a bartalone pipe.

After this I went Lipo power and put a little more rear bias in the brakes and it made a huge difference in turning. I noticed with the stock battery the servo had a hard time holding the wheels turned when full throttlle and the lipo definitely helped. Seems the stock servo tends to get weak after 10-15 mins noticed the driveshaft and servo get real hot in that area, I believe a combination of servo heat and the angle of the driveshaft causing extra friction.

Anyways there is two videos I had to readjust the camera. Footage is a little shaky because it is mounted on the body as you can see it gets ripped off at end. I made a mount for inside the cab and will have two facing front and rear. I will post those after this weekend. Also looking for a better video editing tool so I do not lose the vid quality.

Nice running...They say a pipe moves the powerband either up or down..What do you feel you gained with the pipe on the stock motor? Also, does anyone know if they are going to split up the 4WD class for the Nitro Challenge into stock and modified? Not sure if I want to do alot to the truck right now outside of the new steering servo I put in it..with the truck being so new I would like to keep it stock until more companies have had time to design and test their products...I believe there will be lots of tested option parts out in the next few months..

I only ran the stock pipe for about two laps before it fell off. I wanted to run it more so I could compare but only had one gasket and the stock one was lost. I have not done any tuning I am going to do that before this weekend it seems as it could rev out a litttle more, I think a filter will help that also.

To answer your question I would say more bottom end with the pipe. I had a few people come and ask about it and say it looked like it had more power down low. Some were running flowsystem and a couple stock.

I am not sure how they will be doing the classes. I heard would be split into 2wd and 4wd but nothing about modifications. It will most likely depend if there is enough to make a different class. I will find out this weekend.

As you can see this track does not need much top end. I have a 18t pinion that should be here in a couple days and am going to try that out this weekend. The sharp turn at the end of the second video where I slam head on and lost the camera, that 180 turn has a tabletop after that and the only way I can clear it is if I take the corner wide and get a longer run. I can do it with the Baja 5t no problem.

I dont mind giving tips as I like a challenge. As mentioned earlier with how much braking and turning you have to do you really need to upgrade the servos and battery to Lipo. I could only run a few laps before the steering and brakes went to crap. I had to have travel adjust up on screen at all times adding more travel to get the truck to stop. Once on LIpo is a lot more consistent. Adding more rear brake helps it rotate as mentioned in different post. I have not installed but the brake spring mod I can see help with consistency.

I have the 18tooth pinion, softer front tires, harder rear springs, and different size swaybars I am going to try this weekend and see what combination I like best on this track and will report back.

nice meeting you out there, your pipe definately has a highe pitch sound than the oter flowsystems out there.

thanks again for the exhaust bolt.

i might be there again on saturday if i can get a new pin for one of my rear axles. the pin backed out and chewed up the lower shock tower bolt and the side of the rear differential.

Thanks for the useful information. I wil be curious how the 18t does. I have upgraded the servo now trying to decide if I should go for an upgraded motor or just get the pipe..The most important thing for us is to increase the low end..

Could always get a pipe then if you want a bigger motor you have a pipe already. I dont know how the bartalone does with bigger motors as the expansion chamber I feel is a little small compared to others. I am on the same boat as you want a lot more bottom end but do not want to go electric(yet) or fork out the money for a bigger motor. I only use this truck on the track will never be bashed as I have a baja 5t for that which I feel is more fun anyways.
