Default Cory's Build , This One Means Alot to me...

Hi Guys,

This is a thread i posted on another forum that i thought i would share.

The purpose for the thread is to show how great the 1/5 scale community really is, even when times are tough.

I hope i'm not breaking any rules by posting this over here... if so the mods can remove it.

Here is the post..

A few weeks back i posted up in the WTB section looking for a roller to help out a new, and very special friend of mine.
This young mans name is Cory, and he has Asperger's Syndrome.

His dad, Steve, and i met through a sale i had here on HBF and after several conversations on the phone I agreed to rebuild Cory's baja and install the parts Steve had purchased from me.
long story short , Steve shipped the baja and i received it . well lets just say it needed Lots of love...
after running the numbers to repair what he had we determined it would be a smarter decision to find a good , clean roller.

This led to my post in the WTB section, and i met another incredible individual named Mike, ( dafatcat ).

Mike worked a killer deal with Steve for a Super clean roller with some nice upgrades.
Mike carefully disassembled the roller to get it in a small a package as possible to cut down on the shipping costs and i recently received the package to begin the build.

pictures to follow.

I managed to gather up a brand new motor on ddm's DOTD, CY F-270, i also picked up the Fast Pipe on the ddm Blem sale.
I am supplying all of my IRP parts, quite a few of spare parts i have gathered over the years,( nice little batch of goodies ) , and of course donating my time to build the car for a great young man .

i have had the pleasure of speaking with Cory on the poine, and he is super excited to get his new ride. i have been sending pics as the build progresses and i would like to share them, along with this story, with all of you.

The reason for posting this is Not for glory, or tooting my own horn, its simply me sharing something with you guys that means a lot to me on a personal level.

In todays society, and current times , a feel good story can go along way IMHO.

Thanks guys,
Buddy @ IRP

Ok on to the pics, i will be adding more pics as the build progresses.

I will be needing a few more items to finish this up, I'm Not asking for charity, i will purchase the parts...
I just need to get to the stopping point to be able to get a list up.

thanks again
Buddy

Well that's a mega build there are a lot of part's I covert, so yes I am sure the lad is going to enjoy it and very much appreciate it.
Well whether you posted it for a pat on the back or not I will give you a round of applause.
I did the same for a lad on the UK baja forum, he had stuffed his FG so bad it needed a chassis all the front suspension and a bucket of part's that you would not credit how they got busted as it was a head on with a concrete post it was a runaway so he got a killswitch from me along with the rest of the part's nearly a complete buggy in the end, it does feel good to be able toput something back to a hobby I have enjoyed fro over twentyfive years, so well done that man and keep us posted on the progress and also how well he get's on with it.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update on this one.

It's winding down, just have a few small things to address and she is on her way back home to Cory !

I want to thank the giys again that helped out on this build, the large scale community is alive and well thanks to these kind, and supportive individuals.
