Pretty much the onroad setup is all in the shocks. We set our cars with this basic setup

Front;
1 degree toe out
1mm shim in upper front arm
yellow rear long shock springs
gold sway bar

Rear;
3.5 degrees camber
3 degrees toe in
black front shock springs
black sway bar

Ride height around 1.25"

Thanks for posting that up Jason, Sorry I haven't been more on top of this Cranky, I got slammed at the shop last week (actually a good thing) and have been playing catch up. I should have some time this coming week to finish up the build post.

I noticed you don't use the Threshold umbrella seals in you shock build. I've never used them, but I just bought a set to install for a race just over 2 weeks away.

Is there a specific reason you don't use them? I'm hoping it's because your tearing down your shocks every week anyway, so there isn't enough leakage to justify using them.

Its more of a price thing. $35 for a set of 4 seals vs. $8 for 16 o-rings (4 rebuilds). Even if the Threshholds lasted the same amount of time as the 4 sets of -rings, you still saved a lot of money. Roadracing isn't nearly as hard on the shock seals as offroad, and short of breaking something, I don't think I ever rebuild road race shocks in a given season.

I have heard both pros and cons on them (like pretty much everything), so you should throw them in, and let us know what you think.

I got the shock repair kits that include the shaft and the valve body. I plan on setting up one set of valve bodies with the threshold seals, and one set with your o-rings. That should make it easy for me to decide what the differences are. This will be the first time I've rebuilt my shocks, and I've owned my Baja over a year now. It might take another 3 years for me to decide which ones I like better at that rate.

I don't like the threshold seals at all. Two of the seals aparently got bent while I was pressing them into the valve body, with the provided tool. Now the shocks they are in won't compress all the way because the shaft isn't lined up properly. I don't have enough shock oil to rebuild them again before the race tomorrow, so I'm screwed. I really wish I would have tried the ds rings first now. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. I've got to finish packing so I can start heading to Texas.

It's a bit late now, but watch Underdog's YouTube video on installing the seals.

Your welcome. Look in the "shock" upgrade area when looking at "upgrades by function" @ ddm. You'll find em easier that way

If you are referring to the HPI Tarmac tires, they will work just fine. The slicks, in my experience work great if you are on a treated and prepared, VERY clean surface, other wise the dust and debris sticks to them an they get slippery.

At our road race series for the Baja, everyone uses Tarmacs, I think I have only seen a few people use slicks, and they end up back on Tarmacs.

Not much, last time out, I was having a true "off day" so I ended up only running 2 qualifiers. Nothing really changed on the setup.
