Braaaaap Braaaaap ![]() | ![]() Lately i've been thinking of alternative ways to power rc vehicles from hydrogen/hybrid systems to compact rotary engines. Another Idea I have been thinking about is fluid power. Today there are some micro sized Hydraulic motors which are extremely efficient. Some of these motors can turn in excess of 40,000 rpm and produce extreme torque. The fluid pumps could be easily powered by a small 4-stroke gasoline or nitro aircraft engine. There would need to be one servo operated porportioning valve or 2 depending on if you wanted to use the hydraulic motor also as a brake. Imgaine the speeds that would be possible by spinning a pinion gear at 40K+ rpms. I have seen some gokarts set up to run this way and they are amazingly fast. Scary fast actually. Anyway I am just curious what other ideas people have come up with or thought about? Last edited by LOST IN MN; 05-26-2011 at 08:09 PM. |

| ![]() I've been thinking about making something for BMB's "Deutsches Fest R/C Bash". I came up with the idea too late to have it ready for this year, but next year I hope to have a remote control ramp to drive in the parade. |

| ![]() I see people building up twin cylinder 50 and 60 cc motors. Now my question is: Has anyone ever tried to build up a two stroke mini bike engine for a 1/4 or 1/5 scale? I would think the power out of a older CR 60 or 80 would be phenomenal. You could also set it up with the stock 6 spd transmission operated off of a large servo. Just something I've been pondering. I think a liquid cooled 60 or 80 would be an awsome platform for a 1/5 scale. I realise that there would be a lot of fabrication involved, but thats most of the fun anyway. Any thoughts on this? |

| ![]() This company produces a 27cc rotary engine that I have thought about trying to adapt to a 1/5 scale. It would be fantastic with some forced induction. Welcome to FREEDOM MOTORS |
