Default Losi 5 t diff kit

Looking for a good diff kit for my losi 5t. I'm using a 47cc OBR engine. My stock diff is blown.

Default Losi 5 t diff kit

With big motors they need very heavy diff fluid in them some say run a diff eliminator and that does fix the problem but it moves it to the drive shafts and they start breaking
Especially if you jump the truck a lot on to hard surfaces
Put 100000 in the center
I like 125000 if you can find it
And 60000 to 80000 front
And 30000 to 50000 rear
They will live and not break a lot of parts
Just remember a diff gets hot under wide open and will melt if run for 30 to 45 minutes of hard playing
So wide open looks cool but when you see the front tires growing the center diff is getting hot
Or just one tire front or rear that diff is getting hot and it will melt
And don't clean truck with a water hose it kills the bearings and will look like the diff failed

Lock the center diff and you axle diffs will last longer. Make sure the diffs are shimmed properly. Too much play will ruin a gear fast. Ditch the plastic gear cases and buy aluminum ones.

the heaviest I can get my hands on is 1000000. I was thinking of getting my hands on some diff fluid used in the Ram 3500 diesels. What about this for the front and rear? 500000 in the front and 300000 in the rear? Can you recommend some brands I should check out for parts? I am ordering the MIP super diff kit for all 3. Do shocks play a roll in any of this? I am looking at the MIP upgrade kit for those.

You can buy all the parts you want but locking the center diff is the best option and will reduce the wear and improve traction. No matter the diff fluid you will still have the same problem. Only a Torsen diff will last longer than a stock diff. Stiffer springs will help.

Default Losi 5 t diff kit

The MIP shocks are great
And there diff kits are to but the diff kits are for racers and there light weight cross pins may not hold up to the power of your 46
But it should be quick with them good luck

47cc.. The stock shocks are just fine. All you need are stiffer springs for the extra weight. Orange are the stiffest. Use 40wt. shock oil.

I am looking at the Crazy stu. As I understand I would need 3 of them, 1 per diff. Are those torsen diffs? Where would I put the fluid in one of those? Thank you both for answering my questions. I'm a big newb.

You only need one Crazy stu for the center diff. If you put one in each axle you would loose the diff action and have posi drive. As far as a Torsen diff?? There is not one available for 1/5 scale. They were available in 1/8 scale a long time ago. All you can do is use heavier diff fluid on the diff axles. The center locker will greatly improve the performance. The power from the motor will be split equally to front and rear as opposed to power put to the wheels that will loose traction first. Which is usually the front. I hate center diffs. You loose so much power.

I went with the FID reverse kit which is the same as locking the center diff but with reverse.

What would you recommend for the from and rear diffs. I'm just going to use 500k in both. But for hardware?

500k diff fluid is good to start with. See how is works. As for hardware replace the center diff mounts if you have plastic ones.

We make aluminum diff housings here at 7075rc.com You should take a look at them considering the HP you'll be using. The stock diff cases are fine for a stock setup but it will get hot with your's. When they get hot the gears move around and they will not mesh correctly, then fail.

There is no debate. I certainly don't support any product the is china made or American made. You are not the referee as you couldn't Figure out that gas is a expanding pressure! I am not A Comrade of any nature. I live right here is the USA! I posted Multiple links to all products. FACT that LOSI is a overseas product proves my POINT! If your going to support American then you better dump that LOSI. AS it is NOT American made! I buy the best quality product at the best price!

It's NOT a Link. It doesn't go anywhere. A link is suppose to go to another page or site providing information. Like the links I have posted.
