| ![]() Hey PL, cool rig, hey can I change a 5t to a 5b by just changing the front end parts? Or are the chassis different, I have a KM clone that I rebuilt with all HPI 5t parts, GH alloy rear but it's been on the shelf sense I got the 5ive and I kinda thought about making a buggy out of it, it's got RPM arms and I did the big block conversion, the motor runs great. Just having a hard time with the steering setup, I do have alloy wiper arms but I see tr has a new setup for the steering. I'm not really a Baja grue the 5ive came out right after I got this thing and I stopped mucking around with it. It was the t2000 4wd clone with the belt drive up front and I got rid of all that, the parts sucked, if you looked at it the wrong way an arm would break, I'm not shitting you, the only way to get aftermarket arms on it was to convert the whole thing. I have a nice 5sc body for it too, I think I need to tear the diff apart cause it just wants to do doughnuts like one wheel is getting all the power. Give me some advise when you get a minute. Thanks man, Al |

There's a guy who comes to our track with the t2000. If anyone sneezes, his rig falls apart. Chassis are the same. I run 3k diff fluid and adjust the rears hubs for 3 degree toe-in. Keep in mind, this and the LOSI 5ive are completely different beasts. RWD is something you need to practice and master--especially in loose soils. I like each vehicle for their own pros/cons. Just gotta know that the Baja's require a more skilled hand and a different driving style. Here is list I got off the HPIBajaForum (and I added a few things): HPI Stuff: 85425 Under Guard for 5T/5SC (use this instead of 5B stuff) 86486 Drive Gear 20 Tooth 87430 Roof Plate 85452 Wing Set Proline Desert Rat Body for 5B I have the front windshield by ffrc (side windows are OK, but I just took them off) RPM Rear Skid Plate RPM Rear Bumper RPM Front Bumper and Skid Plate for 5B turtle racing Baja 5B Front Shock/Tower Brace Turtle Racing V2 Rear Shock Brace dark soul Axle Extenders dark soul V3 Dogbones HPI Boots Wheels/foams – Get the HPI stock rims and foams for 5B – they are the cheapest and hold up fine; Proline makes some rims/foams which seem tougher, but more expensive – don’t forget to tape your rear foams (Gorilla tape or duct tape) For the rears I like the HB Khaos, Hostile Mini MX and Proline Bowties (stay away from the stock HPI Sand Busters—they suck) For the fronts, I like the HB Double Blades, the Proline Bowties, and the Hostile Mini MX (these are best, all around) | |
