Monsterbeetle rebuilt to XXL

Hello everybody::-D:

I am René and I was already registrated on the dutch forum http:///rclargescale.nl
and I want to share my new project with you all.

When I bought this car he was all standard with some small alloy tuning parts mounted on it.

http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/...letruck/MT.jpg

So I stripped the MT and I changed al plastic parts for Aloy parts ::-D:

When I was finished he looked like this :D

After enjoying driving this Beetle I decided that I am going to change everything to XXL:twisted:
I have changed the Chassis, Alu-Tec 5mm Evo 1 Offroad Chassis 535 Front wishbones en the rear wishbones.

The Suspension are a NEW design:thumb:
RonW designed this parts based on his own wishbones but with positive upgrades.

All components can be combined on the ordinary FG and Elcon parts
All hinge joints parts have more flesh than al standard wishbones, they have been made from
12mm qualities aluminum
Fixed toe-in of 3 degrees.
The rear wishbones have been modified at the connection on the wishbones holders on the car.
Formerly this was 1 piece where in the long run sand came beside the bearings as result of which scribbles at maintenance with difficulty to remove.
Also the design has been modified for more firmness.
The purchaser can indicate himself how he wants the absorber mounts, M4 or such as Elcon M5.

The front wishbones are smaller so that they have fewer burdens of obstacles which lie on the ground.
No problems with the springs and the turnbuckles.
The shocks connection gets 3 mounting points in the lower wishbones.
Of which 2 to use for the monster implementation and 3 for the buggy models.
Above wishbones is almost exactly as large as the monster implementation.
You can drive with standard Monster shocks, 2 absorbers mounts, 1 big shock (I am using the GPM Losi shocks) and mounts for the buggy models
It’s possible to lay the absorbers very flat, there has been more space created in the above wishbones.
The upper wishbones must be provided with a ball head.
A choice can be made with 6mm or 5mm a connection. (Elcon work with 5mm.).

If somebody is interested in the new wishbones they can contact RonW for more info.

Please see below the new wishbones for the front and rear

The difference in length clearly visible

Please pay attention at the rear the place where the differential will be mounted, more firm and wider.

I polished the plate.

In spite of widening of the Alu Tec rear plate there is enough space for the wishbones.

Very nice work.

WOW! What a BEAST! Great work and thanks for sharing with us.

The FG MT reminds me of the old days man. I spent hours and hours driving that truck. I had a blast and it was what got me started into Large Scale.

Ask Mr Craftwerks how many hours we have in our trucks. We both still own them and neither of us plan to ever get rid of them.

This is a great project!
A car that does not compare with an original FG monster.:thumb:

Thanks Craftswerks and Highwaystar,
And Mark Hull, I don't think that I will ever sell my Beetle and I can't wait to drive again. I will place a new movie of my car when I'm ready.

Finally I got the time to mount the rest of the parts on the Beetle

Mounted a new bearing in the wishbones.

Do you sell these kits or just do them for yourself? Truly nice stuff!:thumb:

RenédS 10-06-2011 01:14 AM

Hello Higwaystar,

These Suspension parts, Front and Rear wishbones are going to be maid in small sets.
This is not to overrule the market but it's pure hobby.
And what I have right know are the first of his kind so if anyone else is interested in the wishbones they also have unique set.:thumb:

RonW 10-07-2011 12:51 PM

I sell these sets on order!
The sets are limited editions made by me.
The other parts I can also supply, as the 5mm thick XL evo 1 chassis, tires and more.
The chassis are fully CNC cut from aircraft aluminum.
Soon there will be more Parts coming up.
As my new servo saver setup and servo plate.

Thats one way to mow the grass.... LOL.

She's a monster alright, Nice work.

arthurdaley 11-11-2011 08:01 AM

Who makes the Beetle body, it is nicer than the FG one I run, the scoops and scolops in the bonnet just make it look different.
