Default carb spring?

so, i broke the bolt that holds the throttle linkage to the throttle shaft. tried to drill the broken bolt, but broke it off as well. decided to just replace the entire shaft with one from a different carb. all went well with replacing the shaft, but that little spring under the wing looking part that goes into one of the 4 holes is being a real PITA! how do i get the right tension/adjustment on that spring?

i can tell were the one end just kinda rests on the little bump on the carb, and the other end goes into the one of the 4 holes but the tension is just jacked now. any advice on what to do??? with out this adjusted correctly the baja will not idle correctly........

thanks for any input
