Default Baja 5b stock advice please!

Hey, I have a Baja 5b 23cc stock except for receiver and controller. I have it running and all is great! I just wanted to check to make sure these things arnt a concern and why it could be happening.

When running the buggy pretty hard which is what i like, when I bring it in, it idles alright and then dies down a little. After it sits there for roughly 12 - 15 seconds idling it then decides to act like I have just turned both low and high speed needle a full turn richer until i plant the throttle a few time up and down it then is fine. I am wondering why that is, or is it just because its a 2 - stroke?

any extra advice on tuning would be great, cheers :)

Too much oil. Run 32:1 mix

I will do that, but the question I have is... Why is it that, as with my old 26cc I had no problems and I ran that on the same oil mixture 25:1.. I am using good quality Motul 2-stroke oil

or you can try a new carb kit. Sometimes the gaskets go bad fast and cause the problem.

I did change the carb but didn't replace the seals as the car hadn't had much use before I bought it! Hover they did look alright but looking back i probably should have put new seals on it anyway. I think I will do that.

It really has me confused as my old Rovan Baja 5b 26cc had no problems at all... It ran great. This is why I am confused, although that was brand new at the time.

Oh I did change the exhaust to the Baja SS pipe as I have a kit I am building. That did make a difference as the muffler is quiet but sad on a performance level.

A aftermarket exhaust will lower the idle.
The only pipe under $150 that will make power.

Cheers, I'll check that out. Just curious, I don't know who bloke the engine in but if they didn't do it correctly what would be the symptoms?

Yeah I am ordering a Jetpro v3 for my SS kit... Exhausts are important

The suggestions given should solve your problem. Adding a aftermarket air filter kit will also lower the idle. If your not racing only use the 6k clutch spring. There is a big lag in response with the 8k spring and it will have the same symptoms with the idle. the *k spring will force you to crank the idle screw all the way in.
