Default Which electronic steering servo to buy ?

I want to buy an electronic steering servo for my husbands Baja 5sc.
What is the best out there for the money ? He tends to lean towards Hitec but are they the best ?

My favourite for that model would be a Multiplex Rhino.

Check the specs on both servos and you will find that is not the case..
The Rhino pulls just over 25kg at 4.8v the Hitec can't pull 25kg even at 6.0v

The Rhino is very hard to find domestically (USA) and if you do, it will cost almost 40% more than the Hitec 5755. Personally, I would opt for the Rhi o if they were more widely available here, but.......

The Hitecs are very good servos, and they have fantastic warranties, you def cannot g wrong with it.

Thankyou 007 beat me to it on that.
A Hitec 5805 direct replacement a very good servo and the same dimension's as the stock servo, but if you get the HS-5755mg my #2 chioce, you will need an adapter, there is one in the spares bag as supplied by HPI that will do, but you are better of getting the Darksoul Meaty Mount servo adapter #ht204 or a AMS alloy servo bracket #ht201 as this does away with the stock plastic cradle and adapter. These are DDM part number's but from a little while ago.
I favour the Multiplex Rhino Digi 4 and I use this in my HPI 5T and 5B's same fitment as the 5SC, I have the AMS servo mount on my 5T, and just the Darksoul adapter on my 5B's, you will also need an alloy servo horn for whichever servo you purchase.
I also have the Multiplex on my Losi but although we can get the Multiplex here in the UK I have read on this forum it is not so easy to obtain the Multiplex over your side of the pond.
Good luck with your purchase, and I hope we have not over loaded you with decisions.

In regards to the Rhino Digi 4 SHV vs. Hitec 5765 (I am comparing high voltage to high voltage models) this is what I have found, using the information provided from the manufacturers websites-

Rhino Digi 4 SHV
6v = 230 N/cm (325 oz/in)
7.4v = 270 N/cm (382 oz/in)

Price - $129.00 (99.00 Eur.)

Hitech 5765
6v = 196 N/cm (278 oz/in)
7.4v = 245 N/cm (347 oz/in)

Price - $89.00 (68.00 Eur.)

So you can see in high voltage, there is a difference of 35 oz/in of torque but the higher torque will cost you an additional $40. Is it worth it? I don't have a real world, technically oriented answer, but my gut says that in a single servo application, then yes, its probably worth it, but in a dual servo setup, probably not so much seeing as how even with the lower output of the 5765, you STILL will have 694 oz/in of torque, and if thats not enough to do what you want.........

Last thing to consider, is that I have not found any domestic retailers for the new Rhino SHV, so you would need to add on shipping costs to that servo, which would probably be another $10-$20 or so, and if you did in fact need warranty, well, its probably not even worth the hassle. Bad for us here in the USA, but the gang in Europe, they get a bit better product apparently.
